Has anyone noticed the new Design ?? of course not, I have no visitors to my blog. Well, I hope that soon I shall find number of visitors to the website, for I am bored of writing things to myself.

I’m not really professional in making wordpress themes, I’ve been using a new software called Artisteer, which I found really cool, and does help in making brilliant professional designs. Maybe if I develop greater ability in making better designs,  I’ll publish few. But must be really professional, since I can’t just rely on this software. I’ve been using Pain shop for the header, which I’m developing my skills in it and need to be professional in order to make better graphics with.

I have also made a design for my other website Jane Austen Fansite > click here to take a look

soon I’ll be making one for the Colin Firth fan site, maybe after the OSCARS.

always wanted to share this

I have been struggling to write a paper for almost 2 months. It shouldn’t be a hard thing to do, but I was stuck also with exams. The deadline is tomorrow.  I have been building the essay and writing all kind of ideas until I reached the point where I sort of became an expert about the topic I’m going to write about. But, I seem to find it difficult to write it in an essay of almost 2000 words.  I’m not going to write 2000 words, I barely can write a thousand. But I should have started writing it ages ago and I should have done it by now, but I was such a lazy ass and couldn’t focus on it and write and all I got left is one day. I stated writing the final draft today and I hope I finish it by midnight, so tomorrow I can go over it, if any changes should be made and submit it.

How to write an essay? — never save it for the last minute and star focusing on the ideas and simply write what you have to say. go straight to he point and do your best to accomplish the paper on time, so you can never ask for extension.

As the 1st semester of this year at the University is almost over, I’m thinking far ahead to the 2nd semester. There are two courses in English literature I’m taking and I’m somehow excited to start with them, and it’s only for one reason: Jane Austen.

The first course is required and I have no choice but to take it if I’m interested in taking the B.A. this course requires reading my favorite novel  of all times: Pride and Prejudice.  I knew about this book since last year when my friends who were a year ahead of me were required to read it. I was even much more excited than now. Now at least I have an excuse to read it again and watch the Mini-series or the film.

the other course, which is an elective course, and I wans’t sure about taking it, because there are plenty of interesting elective courses in Literature, and i can’t take more than 2 electives per year (and I already took one last semester, that I’m still struggling with the final paper, as I have too many exams to study for). I chose a course that is dealing with the 19th century, and what does the 19th century includes? Jane Austen. So in this course as I was informed a month ago requires a list of reading that includes: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.  Another excuse to be excited. Sense and Sensibility might not be my favorite Jane Austen book, but it comes pretty close and reading it again is an utter pleasure. As for Jane Eyre, I always loved this book, and I once read it when I was at 8th grade (I can’t remember if it was abridged or not, but the point is I’ve read it), I tried reading it again last year, but couldn’t find the time to do so, for I had other reading material. Which brings me to this year, I have to read it, and finally enjoy it without much of pressure. And of course I’ll have the excuse and chance to watch the old mini series which was my favorite stars Timothy Dalton, and the new adaptation that stars Toby Stephens.

The next semester cannot be more fun and interesting. And finally I’m studying English for the main excuse, reading my favorite novels.  at least now my knowledge and addiction to Jane Austen are finally going to be payed off.

Update: I have opened a new fan site for Jane Austen, since I’m so excited and finally found the excuse to open a fan site for my most beloved author. Click here to see the fan site. and do not be alarmed by finding it empty, since I just opened it.

It’s amazing how you can be creative on Facebook, even when it comes to God. A lot of groups were creating a lot of groups like “If everything was made in China, and if God created everything then he must be somewhere in China”. I know it’s a little funny, totally for fun and pointless. As a result of these kind of laughs, out of no where I decided to make a group called “God is in Chinatown” Why?

As you see, there are a lot of people in china, and it’s very interesting for God to be there. But China doesn’t include a lot of people, and not a lot of people really go to visit China (unless they are on a business trip, right?). New York on the other hand is visited by all nations around the world all the time, in all season. So the best place for God to be in is Chinatown, NY. what do you think?

A link to the group that I made on Facebook

Join if you want. and Don’t forget that I wasn’t meaning to offend anyone who’s in China and the group means nothing.

A friend wrote something funny on the wall, perhaps a bit offensive, but it was a joke: If Adam and Eve were Chinese then what would have happened? We would have still been in Garden of Eden, because they would have eaten the snake instead of the fruit from the forbidden tree. Funny, don’t you think?

Yes. I am doing it again. Instead of studying I’m watching another TV show. This time I chose something a bit different, not a sit-com like all other times, but something else. This time I chose “True Blood”, a vampire series. I tried watching it before but I never really liked it, I thought it’s only sex and blood. But after watching the second episode I noticed that it’s really good.

The story might sound familiar, a vampire falls in love with a human girl. Where did we hear that? oh yes, Twilight. I was a fan of Twilight few years ago, I had nothing to do in my life and read the whole Twilight series, I liked it back then, but that was all. No I’ve lost my interest in Twilight and somehow think it’s rubbish, stupid, and shallow. Maybe I’ve lost this kind of interest because I no longer like anything related to my teen-hood. Anyway, when Is tarted watching True blood I felt it’s somehow different for some man reasons.

One, it is for adults; all the characters are 20+ or more and the stories involve sex and stuff that are not suitable for under aged. Two, the story is a bit darker and much more complicated. Three, it deals with the conflict that is still in the South. Four, it deals with similar situations like drugs and crimes. Five, the characters are much more complex and sophisticated in many ways.

I almost finished the 1st season, and there are no intentions to finish the 2nd season very quickly because waiting for the 3rd one is going to take long. So I better take advantage of the time I have and enjoy it till the arrival of the 3rd season. I really like this series and highly recommend it to those who like vampires and myths. Also recommended to those who love romantic stories in which the hero is a gentleman or whatever; Bill (the main male character so far) is very different from Edward Cullen and I would say he’s much more complex and sophisticated, for he is not as boring as Edward Cullen. As for Sookie Starckhouse,I can’t really tell if she’s better than Bella, but I think I like her more, Bella was shallow and stupid.

Still I haven’t read the books ( the book series that True Blood is based on) and I can’t really judge if this series is better than Twilight (which s by the way is the only Vampires book I read). But maybe I’ll read it in the future if I get to have more time.

I finally finally had the chance to watch NINE. and I’m “WOW”.

First of all I love all MUSICALS. perhaps my favorite genre has been always musical; they just inspire me… to LIVE. honestly, can you imagine our life without music and dancing? and I always thought that Actors that can actually sing, dance and obviously act are the best gift that the cinema has ever had.

Lets start with the music:

WOW. WOW. WOW. who ever wrote and composed the songs/music is a LEGEND.  I want to get the Soundtrack songs now and listen to them all till someone shoots me in the head. I’m obsessed with the songs, specially “Be Italian” and “Cinema Italiano”, Fergie and Kate Hudson should get a Grammy awards for these two songs! The rest of the songs are almost equally amazing! Just can’t get enough of them…

The Direction

Obviously Bob Marshall hasn’t lost his talent and I don’t think he’ll ever does, remember “Chicago”? As much as I ADORE that film. I think I enjoyed “Nine” more, maybe because it contained more actors, but also because I guess it was better directed. Same, its’ really awesome. I’ve paid attention to all the things the director did, which were amazing, every tricks he did, were just AMAZING.

The Actors

OH OH OH. Daniel Day-Lewis: was very convincing and even if I didn’t watch much of his movies I think he did one of th ebest jobs in this movie.

Marion Cotillard: I ADORED her. Her singing was awesome and she was even much more convincing than Day-Lewis.  Defiantly deserves a second Oscar, or at least a nomination. It’s brilliant that she go to sing two songs instead of just one like the rest.

Judi Dench: the Queen of the Queens of the cinema. Every little thing she does is magic. I WAS SHOCKED when I saw her performing that song of hers. As far as I remember I never saw her dancing and singing and here she was singing and dancing. WOW. what a pleasant shock!

Sophia Loren: After you Judi. No comment. was just perfect. THE MOTHER! and did I mention gorgeous?

Penelope Cruz: even though she was my least favorite, I enjoyed her performance very much.

Nicole Kidman: even though I expected to see more of her, but wasn’t disappointed at all. Her song was amazing. but nothing beats her beauty. SHE IS GODDESS.

Kate Hudson: I think she put on weight, which made her look so gorgeous. And I’m startled by her performance: “Cinema Italiano”. can’t get enough of it.

Stacy Ferguson(Fergie): even thought she also one performance, but the song she sand “Be Italian” was EPIC. what a wonderful performance. This song can’t get out of my head… at all.

I hope I didn’t forget anything.

two little details: When the movie started 10 minutes later it shut down, my friend said maybe it’s the electricity, and then 5 seconds later it also shot down… wonder why? But it didn’t ruin the pleasure we had while watching!
Another Shock: there weren’t a lot of people watching, only few, which isn’t shocking since the movie was out two weeks ago. But, the people who were in the Hall stepped out in the middle, and only my friend and I stayed, which was shocking and disappointing. I guess they have no taste in movie, their loss anyway…

And now ENJOY THIS…

Can’t get enough of it!

As a result of boredom (and partly of studying), I have made a group on FB called “OMJ – Oh My Jove”. When you Google for the term OMJ, it stands for Oh My Jonas (the Jonas Brothers that all stupid teenage girls are obsessed with- no offense). I’ve decided to make a group that stands for Jove (Jupiter -the God of the gods in the Roman Mythology) for a change.

ABOUT JOVE/JUPTER

In Roman mythologyJupiter or Jove was the king of the gods, and the god of sky and thunder. He is the equivalent of Zeus in the Greek pantheon. He was called Iuppiter (or DiespiterOptimus Maximus (“Father God the Best and Greatest”). As the patron deity of ancient Rome, he ruled over laws and social order. He was the chief god of the Capitoline Triad, with sister/wife Juno. Jupiter is also the father of the god Mars with Juno. Therefore, Jupiter is the grandfather of Romulus and Remus, the legendary founders of Rome. Jupiter was venerated inancient Roman religion, and is still venerated in Roman Neopaganism. He is a son of Saturn, along with brothers Neptune and Pluto.[1][2][3]He is also the brother/husband of Ceres (daughter of Saturn and mother of Proserpina), brother of Veritas (daughter of Saturn), and father ofMercury.

I have been studying The Metamorphoses by Ovid in some course and I became a little bit obsessed about(or rather attached to) these kind of things, the Roman and the Greek Mythology.

So the final exams started. I have always been the kind of person who doesn’t study at all. OK, I do study, or else how could  I got good grades? but I only spend 5% of effort for each exam. And still after each exam I say “if only I studied more” but i can’t, simply cant. instead of studying I find myself getting all sort of distractions, and not the kind of distractions caused by others, but by me. I find myself doing nothing but spending all my time on line. Facebook is the main distraction; I always find myself looking at the FB homepage and refreshing it for anything new. This time I’ve decided to reduce the amount of time I spend on FB, and instead, I decided to be a bit awesome… I’ve decided to start watching all the Episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” that a friend of mine insisted that I watch. So after I started, I became addicted. each day I watch almost 10 episodes in a row.

How I Met Your Mother

Not only it’s the best distraction from anything, but it’s also one of the best comedy shows ever. when it comes to sitcoms I usually recommend “Friends”, but this time I’m also recommending HIMYM. It’s sofa king hilarious. “Legen.. wait for it… Dary”. Barny is just so hilarious: “When I’m sad/sick, I stop being sad/sick and become awesome instead”. I’e started to notice as well that in real life I’ve also met Barny, and not only Barny but also the rest: Ted, Robin, Marshal and Lily. I could watch another 20 episodes in a row, and never get bored, but I have to study.

Survey 1

The next exam is going to be in Survey 1: Literature from the 13th Century till the 18th Century. I already have exams samples from earlier years and the Professor that is teaching this course brings the same questions sometimes, hope he does that again. Did I mention he’s awesome? he is amazing. He gives us high grades and his classes are really great. I enjoyed this course a lot, wish I can take any other course again with him.

The texts I have to study however are not that awesome. The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, Twelfth Night or what you will, Paradise Lost, some of Donne’s poems, Modest Proposal and the Rape of the Lock. I haven’t read any of them, so I’m going to read online material and some notes from classes that I could gain. So I wish my self the best of luck with that, hope I get the time to study and stop distracting myself so I can get a very high grade.

So I had this blog before Twist and Shout. which was cool, and I really liked posting few things on it. But I wanted new designs and wanted to install new features so I moved to here. It would be really cool if you read the posts I used to write on it. but the best posts I’m thinking to post them again here (notice how old the dates were).

In this new blog, I’m thinking to make more updates and blog more often. I need also readers for some support, so I hope some people subscribe. and I hope you guys enjoy reading as I’m enjoying blogging.
